Drevin "Dre," "Dre-Dre," or "Boogie" Tavernie, 22, of Rockford, Illinois, with ties to Palm Bay, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to be with the Lord. He was born on November 6, 2003, in Rockford, Illinois, to Richard N. Tavernie Jr. and Rhonda Billman.
Drevin was a partner at All American Tree Service and Paving Your Paradise. He lived life with enthusiasm and enjoyed sports, martial arts, music, gaming, gardening, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, and spending time with family and friends. He had a larger-than-life personality, a contagious spirit, and never missed an opportunity to make memories with those he loved.
Drevin is survived by his parents, Rhonda and Richard Tavernie; his beloved dog, Jax; his sister, Randi (Javy) Negrete; his brothers, Nathan Tavernie, Brandon (Meaghan) Tavernie, Sheldon Tavernie, and Drake Peters; his grandfather, Larry Burke; his close nephews, Levi Tavernie and Deryk Withers; and many nieces, nephews, cuzos, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Corin Wicker; maternal grandmother, Patricia Burke; maternal grandfather, Ron Billman; and aunt, Tricia Watkins. On his paternal side, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jeanette Chappell; grandfather, Richard Tavernie Sr.; uncles, Kenneth Sawtelle, Brian Sawtelle, and Billy Meyer; and aunt, Darcy Eckhardt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Curtis Sawtelle and Lindsey Arlene for their love, support, and kindness.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, Illinois 61111. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. There will be a luncheon held at Legion - 1011 South Alpine Rockford, Illinois 61108, following the service.
