Obituary

Donna Morrow, 57, of Rockford, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020. She was born on February 11, 1963 in Rockford to Marion and Vada Mae (Tyra) Strawbridge. Donna was a loving wife to her husband and best friend, Dave, an aunt, a sister, and a mother to not only her son Nik, but countless others that looked up to her and thought of her as a mom that she loved dearly. She worked at Testors/Rust-o-leum for the last 35 years and loved the job almost as much as the people she worked with.

There wasn’t anything you wouldn’t find her competing at, whether it was Bags, horseshoes, darts, or cards. She  thought she was the best at everything, she usually was, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t get caught cheating a time or  two adding some more points to the score when no one was paying attention. She always said, “if they are dumb enough  to let me cheat, then best believe I’m going to.”

She loved to travel, some of her favorites included Cancun, Las Vegas, or bus trips to casinos and concerts. Donna was  always the life of the party, by that, I mean the loudest in the room either by joking or talking shit. There was never a time where a smile wasn’t plastered on her face, and that smile would illuminate the room. Donna was one of the most caring and loving individuals anyone will have the pleasure to know.

Donna was Diagnosed on June 18th, 2019 with Stage IV leiomyosarcoma which is a very rare and very aggressive soft tissue cancer. She survived a major surgery which saw a massive tumor that had consumed her uterus and had begun cutting off function to her kidney. She took the grim news like a champ and set out to fight. Anyone that knew Donna, knew that she was one of, if not the strongest person they had ever met. She was not one for wanting sympathy,  attention, or anyone feeling sorry for her. She endured 4 different chemotherapy treatments over the last year and a half each having their own side effects. No matter what was thrown at her, or how grim the news, she chose to fight. Some of  her last hours with us were spent at home surrounded by friends, and family. Donna wouldn’t have wanted it any other  way.
