Donald E. Lowman

Don E. Lowman, 71, of Byron, IL, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2025. He was born August 17, 1953 in Gardenia, CA, the son of Arthur and Jeanette Lowman. He graduated from East High School in 1971. He married Carol Beachtel in 1972 in Rockford; they were married for 52 years.

Don worked many jobs; he loved driving the special needed bus for Forrestville Valley, R.L. Leek Transport, Smith Industrial Rubber and Plastics, Anrowest and WTVO 17 where he retired in 2019. He loved driving his pontoon boat, watching Nascar, grilling on his grill, traveling, visiting Union Dairy, watching his beloved Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Melanie (Lowman) Karwowski and Don Lowman; grandchildren, Ezra, Ethan and Jaylynn Lowman and Jacob and Lucas Karwowski; and sister, Carolyn Medearis. Predeceased by his parents, and brother, John Lowman.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at OSF Cancer Clinic, Dr. Ahmad, Dr. Cheng, Dr. Sveeni Vasappa, Dr. Weiland and Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, IL.

Celebration of Life will be held from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2025 in First Born Reach Church, 6332 N. Marrill Road, Byron, IL 61010. There will be a luncheon immediately following.
