Dionisio “Diony” “Johnny” Brown, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born on October 9, 1933 in the Philippines and lived in Chicago, Hanover Park, Roselle, Poplar Grove, Machesney Park and Lakeland, Florida. He finished 6th grade and later in life he finished advanced schools for electrical and appliance repair. He was a Checker Cab driver in Chicago and a GTE cableman for 25+ years. He enjoyed fishing, automotive repair, camping and gardening.
He is survived by his children, David (Ann), Joseph (Tina), Paul (Mary) and Mary (Ron Freigo); grandchildren, Jacqueline, Arielle, Meaghan, Tommy, Stephanie, Christina, Danny, Patty, Mikayla and Anastasia; great-grandchildren, Audrina, Alauna, Kinsley, Julian, Kyler, Luke, Micah, Molly, Michael, Zach, Tyler, Sophia, Isabella, Dino, Liliana, Athena, Georgia, Derek and one on the way; and step-brother, Matthew Brown, Jr. He is predeceased by his parents, Natividad Bantugan Brown and Matthew Brown and his wife, Luz Brown.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, at 3:00pm with a visitation starting at 1:00pm until time of the service. Interment will be in Lakeland Memorial Gardens, Florida.
