Diane Kapela Nowicki, 68, of Roscoe, IL passed away on April 9, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Lorraine Kapela, the second of seven children. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Biology at the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL. She moved to Rockford to work for the University of Illinois Medical School as an Electron Microscopist for 31 years before retiring. In retirement she became an avid gardener, baker, rosary maker and church volunteer. Diane was devoted to her family and will be missed for her sense of humor and concern for others.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Richard; her sons, Joshua (Rebecca), Jacob (Nicole), Michael; three grandchildren, Camden, Luke, Claire; mother, Lorraine; brothers, Ray, Ken (Lana), Tom; brothers-in-law, Henry, and Roman (Jan). She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond; and in-laws, Mike and Helen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue Loves Park. Burial in Pinnacle Hill Cemetery (Pleasant Valley and Prairie Hill Rd.), Roscoe, IL. Mass will be live streamed and available to view at stbridgetlovespark.org.
