Deward B. Reynolds

Deward (Dewey) B. Reynolds, 76, of Rockford passed away August 12, 2023. He was born in Wyatt, Missouri on September 14, 1946, the son of Deward B. and Mabel (Carter) Reynolds. He married Paula Porter on August 31, 1968, in Kingston, IL. Dewey proudly served in the United States Marine Corps completing 2 tours in Vietnam and 2 years in the Reserves. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his services. Upon his retirement from the Marines, he was employed with Atwood Industries for over 30 years and most recently Action Tool and Die. 

Dewey loved his family more than anything and was a true Patriot who loved to travel. He always tried to show his family new destinations. He enjoyed bird watching and loved all the wildlife that came into his yard. He showed his true love for everyone with a special nickname he would give to them.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Holly (Nathan) Roth, Ronnie Wilcoxen, and Dennis (Heather) Wilcoxen; grandchildren, Kelsi Roth, Paige Wilcoxen, Lauryn Wilcoxen (Austin Kujat), and Joshua Wilcoxen; great-grandchildren, Colson Burza; sisters, Barb (Forrest) Noland and Janice (Arthur) Pavey; brothers, Donnie (Diana) and Tim Reynolds.

Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bill, Carl, Chuck, Ronnie, and Tootie Reynolds and sister, Wanda.

The family would like to express gratitude to OSF Hospice for their compassion and care during dad's hospice journey. 

Memorial service will be at 5:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2023, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL. with a memorial visitation from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.
