Dennis Joseph Bunkers, 53, of Caledonia, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on February 14, 1970 in Brookings, South Dakota to Joseph and Linda (Weinacht) Bunkers. He was a 1988 graduate of Guilford High School and Wyoming Technical Institute of Auto Collision in Laramie, WY. He worked at Benny & Son Collision Repair in Rockford, Vender Bender Body Shop in Flagstaff, AZ and started his own body shop in 2015, Raw Steel Collision Center in Machesney Park.
Dennis enjoyed restoring vehicles, customizing classic cars, pickups, race cars, Zambonis and designing and building a 4-passenger cab on a snowmobile tracking machine for a customer in northern Wisconsin.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Linda; son, Tyler Bunkers and his fiancee, Brittinia Carter and their children, Tovi'yah and Tymere Bunkers and her son, Grayson; brothers, Brian and Brad; grandmother, Betty Bunkers; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son, Trever Bunkers and grandparents, Donald Bunkers and Peter J. and Marie Weinacht, Jr.
Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, June 4, 2023 in Sam's Ristorante & Pizzeria, 6075 E. Riverside Blvd., Rockford, IL 61114 and continued at 7:30pm in Windsor Pizza Parlor's outside patio, 1034 Windsor Road, Loves Park, IL 61111. Instead of flowers, memorials to the family for a fund to be determined at a later date.
