Delia Bernice Schoepfer, 99, Rockford resident since 1950, was born March 11, 1924 in Pittsville, WI to William J. and Eva (Stephan) Wilson and passed away on October 31, 2023. A proud class of 1942 graduate of Brodhead Wisconsin High School, Dee wanted to be a teacher but, instead, stayed on the farm to help raise her younger siblings. After marrying Lester Schoepfer on February 27, 1944 in Brodhead, she worked various jobs to help support their family. A devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother who loved to sing and dance, play cards and bingo, and casino trips, she was a great cook who, when President of the Rockford UAW Women’s Club, helped cater delicious retiree dinners. A farm girl who loved all animals, she owned many adored cats over the years. Family was her pride and joy.
Survivors include children, Linda (Robert) Clapp, Steven (Lorraine) and Ronald (Rosemary) Schoepfer; grandchildren, Matthew (Nichole), Andrew (Mala) and Caitlin Schoepfer; great granddaughters, Molly and Morgan Schoepfer; sisters, Joyce (Loyal) Johnson, Sharon Tenjum, and Janet Dawsey.
Predeceased by her husband who died on March 18, 1990; son-in-law Jack Ballard; special friend Delbert Blair; parents; 7 sisters and 6 brothers. We thank GOD for all our loving years together. And heartfelt thanks to Heritage Woods of Rockford, Pro Medica Hospice, and River Bluff Nursing.
