Delbert D. Skaar

Delbert Duane Skaar, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord, with family by his side, on July 9, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1941, in DeKalb, Illinois, and resided for many years in Rockford, where he built a life surrounded by his family. He was one of fifteen children born to the late Walter and Lois Skaar.

Delbert proudly served his country in the Army. A man of deep faith, he was a dedicated member of Faith Center Church and found immense joy and comfort in his love for the Lord. He was an avid evangelist, passionately sharing his faith and bringing many souls to Christ. He'll be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his profound love for his family, and his dedication to spreading the Word.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Skaar; and his children, Delbert (Marie) Skaar of Rockford, IL; Dellita (Jim) Devine of Rockford, IL; Dianna Rogers of Rockford, IL; Daphne (Brett) Snodgrass of Byron, IL; and Danette (Steve) Connors of Glen Ellyn, IL. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.  Delbert was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dana Skaar, of Paris, TN.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the OSF Saint Anthony healthcare teams for their compassionate care and support.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Faith Center Church in Rockford, 4721 S. Main St., Rockford, IL 61102, at 10:00 AM, with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM until time of service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Arlington Memorial Park.
