Debra Connon Obituary

Debra Joan Connon, 79, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on October 12, 2023. She was born in Sycamore, Illinois on July 16, 1944, to the late Charles and Marian Linden. She spent her childhood growing up in Sycamore with her parents and two brothers, Larry and Dennis. Debby graduated from Sycamore High School in 1962. Upon graduation, she attended beauty school at Elgin School of Beauty Culture to pursue her passion of becoming a hairdresser. Debby worked as a hairdresser in the Sycamore area for several years before moving to Loves Park, Illinois where she owned and operated her own hair salon out of her home. Years later, Debby went to work in different clerical roles for the Loves Park Police Department. She worked there until her retirement in 2001. She loved her job and working with her sidekick, Betty Day.

Debby married the late Michael Connon, her great love, on October 27, 2001. They built their dream home together on five acres in Roscoe, Illinois. Debby loved choosing every detail of her beautiful home. She enjoyed spending many hours in her yard gardening, tending to her lovely flowers, and driving her golf cart around. While sitting poolside, Debby often had Vince Gill or Alan Jackson playing in the background. This home became the center of many cherished gatherings of family and friends, most notably, the annual Fourth of July parties that Debby and Mike loved to host. During their years of marriage, Debby and Mike enjoyed many travels together. Debby’s favorite trip was her dream vacation to Sweden to meet several of her relatives living abroad.

Of all the blessings in Deb’s life, she expressed that her two greatest blessings were her daughters, Shelly and Sandy. Debby’s daughters then went on to bless her with five beautiful grandchildren, who were her entire world. Debby owned dogs most of her life, but her two special dogs were her Labradors, Toby and Charlie, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shelly (Scott) Taylor, and Sandy (Mike) Timmerman; her five grandchildren, Lauren (Stephan) Erickson, Ian Taylor, Stephanie Taylor, Chase Timmerman, and Maximillian Timmerman; three step-grandchildren, Hayden Timmerman, Alivia Timmerman, and Hannah Timmerman; brothers, Dennis (Mary) Linden and Larry Linden; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Jeannie Williams, Sue Ruha; and her 1962 Sycamore gals, Kay Duy, Diane Joiner, Karen Morris, Helen Meadowcraft, and Pam Smith. She is predeceased by her loving parents, Charles and Marian Linden; and grandson, James Patrick Taylor.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Wilhelmina and the staff with ProMedica Hospice Care for their compassionate support during her last few weeks.
