David "Boss Hogg" R. Corcoran

David “Boss Hogg” R. Corcoran, 82, of Stoughton formerly of Rockford passed away peacefully June 3, 2022. Born March 5, 1940 in Rockford, the son of John and Louise (Konetski) Corcoran. Married the mother of his 5 children, Delores “Dodie” Goebel in 1961. Married Christine Verkuilen in Rockford in 1984. Employed by Greenlee Foundry for 10 years. David then went on to become the owner and operator of Corcoran Body Shop for over 40 years. He also was a part time Sheriff’s Deputy and Police Commissioner for Winnebago County and served as a Fireman for 5 years. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he ushered at 9:30 AM mass. Also volunteered for Catholic Charities. A member of the LLL Club where he volunteered to help disabled children and work their Friday night fish fry’s. David enjoyed fishing trips, shooting guns and loved to be at his body shop where he could enjoy the company and fellowship within the Rockford community. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and laugh.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Christine Corcoran; children, Randall, Mitchell (Lorie), Patrick (Wanda), Rebecca (Tim), Valerie; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings, John Michael, Gregory Daniel (Carol), Jerome (Marianne), Mark (Petie), and Linda (Steve) Wallin. Predeceased by parents; step son, Wesley; sister, Sharon; infant sister, Mary; and sister-in-law, Joyce.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Humane Society.
