David Wayne Zander, 74, of Rockford, passed away after a sudden illness on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was born in Rockford to Charles and Hazel (Lorenzen) Zander. He was an Auburn High School graduate and then served in the U.S. Navy. He was self-employed in firewood services and farming. He enjoyed picking mushrooms, junking, reading, writing and the World Flag Project.
He is survived by his sister, Pamela Miller; brother, Steve Zander; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Roseanne and Patricia Cornelius. Predeceased by his parents, Hazel and Chuck Zander; Charla and Tom.
Celebration of Life will be from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at St. Ambrogio Society Club, 802 Montague Street, Rockford, IL 61102. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
