David C. McClelland, loving husband and father, passed away in the early morning hours of July 20, 2020 of a short illness. Born November 27, 1937 to Donovan C. and Cora Lynn McClelland. He attended and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry where he studied Periodontics. He later enlisted in the USAF and was stationed in Peshawar, Pakistan. Married Anna Katherine Janes in 1963. Established his Periodontal practice in 1968, and retired in 2006. He was a life long member of Second Congregational Church where he served on several committees, and was a Sunday school/Confirmation teacher. He was a dedicated member of the Rockford Rotary Club where he served on various committees. In his spare time, he loved to garden and grow an abundance of vegetables and apples, which was then shared with friends and food pantries. His passion for fishing was larger than life, and he enjoyed every moment of being able to go out to wet his fishing line whenever possible. His love of nature was very apparent.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Katherine; son, John (Robann); daughter, Sarah; grandsons, Donovan and Connor; his brother, Edward (Sharon) McClelland; and nieces, Martha and Katie. Predeceased by his parents.
Due to COVID 19, the family has decided not to hold visitation or funeral at this time in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. A celebration of his life may be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charitable organization can be made in his memory.
