David E. Jahn, 80, of Rockford, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born in Rockford on January 14, 1944, the first-born of twins to Eugene and Rita (Doonan) Jahn. He was proud to be in the first graduating class of St. Bridget School in 1958 and then graduated from Harlem High School in 1962. He married Gloria Zordan on October 28, 1967; they were happily married for 56 years and raised two beautiful daughters.
Dave was an active member of St. Patrick Parish, Rockford, for many years. He was president of the Holy Name Society and was very involved in many parish functions. He was a current member of St. Bridget Parish and was a member of Rock River Valley Ambucs, where he helped build ramps for those in need and enjoyed presenting Am-Trykes to those with disabilities.
He worked in finance and was a mortgage loan officer until he retired. In his retirement, he worked as a paraprofessional in the Rockford and Harlem School Districts. He would, however, tell you his number one most important job was being a loving papa and grandpa. He loved to golf and was very proud of the two hole-in-ones he achieved. He has left behind many friends that he enjoyed spending time with.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Michele (Rick) Sager and Christine Jahn (Jeff Kirchner); grandchildren, Stephanie (Matteo) Bacino, Molly Sager (Dustin Dunn), Max David Sager, Margaret Sager and Macy Sager; great-grandson, Lorenzo Bacino; brother, Dan (Mel) Jahn (Andrea Freeman); sister, Kathy Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; his twin brother, Duane; and brothers, Larry and Bill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am with a visitation from 9:30am until the mass on Monday, July 1, 2024 in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, IL 61111.
