Danny V. Phillips

Danny Verel Phillips, 60, loving husband, father, grandfather and son, of Rockford, IL passed away on November 17, 2024 after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.  Born on July 9, 1964 in Rockford, IL, he grew up with five siblings and was raised by his mother, Hazel Ruth (Williams) Storey and Melvin C. Storey.  He met his wife, Patricia (McCollough) Phillips while working together at a local car dealership. They were wed on January 24, 1998 in Clinton, WI.  Dan worked for several years in the used car industry before partnering with his friend, Pat Hess, as owners of Forest City Motor Company in 1998.  He was passionate about his business and devoted to it's success.  Dan was outgoing, funny and easy to know. He had an ability to make anyone feel instantly comfortable. He was a true friend to many with a generous heart. He loved his Chicago Bears and his annual Chicago Cubs trip with his girls.  He enjoyed weekend day trips exploring new cities in the area and spending time with family and friends.

Danny is loved and will be deeply missed by his wife of 26 years, Trish; his three wonderful daughters, Brittany N. (Blake) Davis, Cassidy C. R. Phillips and Grace J. E. Phillips; grandchildren, Brooklyn Joy Davis, Bradley Dan Davis, Benjamin Lee Davis; sister, Brenda Gay (Tom) Hernandez; brothers, Frank (DeAnn) Phillips, Mark R. Phillips, Terry Phillips; and many other friends and family.  Danny is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth and step-father, Mel; brothers, Bob Phillips and Jon Phillips; nephew, Jason Phillips.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to those who have reached out with prayers and well wishes over the past few weeks. Also, special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who worked hard to make his final days more comfortable.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 26, at 11:00am in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107.  Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. The family invited guests to a luncheon at Holy Family Catholic Church following the burial.
