Cesar Barrera

Cesar Barrera, 59, of Rockford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 7, 2026. He was born in Texas, the son of Juan and Guadalupe (Rodriguez) Barrera. He attended Belvidere High School. Cesar was a devoted partner, father, grandfather, son, and brother, whose presence brought warmth and strength to those around him.

Cesar shared 30 wonderful years with his life partner, Melissa Barnes. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brother Jose, working on cars alongside his father, and creating special moments with his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his life partner, Melissa Barnes; his parents, Juan Barrera and Maria Barrera; his children, Roxy, Jessica, and Ashley; his grandchildren, Silas and Brynleigh; his sisters, Jessica and Becky; his brothers, Luis, Martin, and Jose; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his faithful dog, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Barrera, and his brothers, Juan, Carlos, and David.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical team who cared for Cesar in his final days, doing everything possible to ensure he was comfortable and at peace.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
