Catherine Marie Koselke, of Loves Park, passed away August 25, 2024. She was born December 18, 1952, daughter of Herbert and Ruth (Feddersen) Sievers. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She grew up on the south side of Chicago, IL with younger brothers, Ronald and David. She attended college at Concordia University, River Forest where she graduated and fulfilled her dream of becoming a high school English teacher. She retired from Rockford Lutheran High School in 2008.
Cathie married Rick Koselke on July 4, 1981, in Timothy Lutheran Church, Chicago. They moved to Russellville, Arkansas, shortly thereafter, where they lived for a number of years before moving back to Illinois and eventually settling in the Rockford area. Cathie was devoted to her family, friends, students and the many dogs Rick and she shared over the years. She was perpetually 29 years old and enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, quilting, vacationing, general futzing and The Chicago Bears. She hated the color yellow.
Cathie is survived by her husband, Rick; brothers, Ron (Laura) and David; brother-in-law, Tim (Joanne) and nieces and nephews, Kelsey, Charlie, Brian and Katie; her dog, Dixie; and numerous cousins, godchildren and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and dogs Misty, Hoover and Sheila.
Memorial Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Home-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. The internment of her ashes will be private in Cooper's Grove Cemetery at St. John's Church in Country Club Hills, at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to Rockford Lutheran High school or American Diabetes Association.
