Carolyn Stromquist Obituary

Carolyn Stromquist, 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born on November 25, 1938 in Rockford, Illinois to Eugene and Almeda Severson and raised by Robert Fenicle and Almeda. She met the love of her life, Jerry Stromquist, when she was 16 years old. They were married on February 28, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Carolyn and Jerry were blessed with their children: Terry (Julie), Cindy (Bob) Stoltman, Jerry Jr. (Candace), and preceded in death by Susan and Mary. She spent most of her days beaming over them and her grandchildren: Nicole (Matt) Schlenz, Ashley (Brandon) Jack, T.J. Stromquist, Miranda (Adam) Karger, and Chase Stromquist. Her great grandchildren: Norah and Miles Schlenz, Axton and Sloane Jack, and Riley Karger will have the most amazing guardian angel.

Standing 5’2”, Carolyn was vivacious, kind, and quite frankly a force to be reckoned with. She loved fiercely. If you were fortunate enough to be loved by her you knew she would do anything for you.

Carolyn was a proud member of the First Church of Nazarene. She taught Sunday School for over 15 years. Nothing made her prouder than teaching young children the stories of Jesus. Carolyn was also a part of the big sister mentoring program. She loved spending time with young kids and ensuring they were cared for.

In 1997, Carolyn and Jerry moved to Forsyth, MO, right outside Branson. They spent 25 years enjoying all the shows Branson had to offer. The entertainers knew Carolyn by name and enjoyed seeing her face in the front row. Blessed with an early retirement, Carolyn and Jerry truly got to spend their better days together in their favorite place.

Carolyn loved music, making greeting cards, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Devout in her faith brings comfort to her family. Although we miss her terribly, we are comforted by the fact she is in Heaven, smiling down on us.

Private services will be held.
