Carole Jean Ervin

Carole Jean Ervin, 78, of Rockton, IL died peacefully in her home on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the age of 78.  Carole was born in Aurora, IL on October 8, 1942 to Paul and Edith Olsen.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Paula Petersen.  She leaves behind her children, David (Jill) Smitley, Paula (Jake) Drendel, Steven (Elizabeth) Smitley and Jeff (Dana) Smitley; and her grandchildren, Rachel (Beau), Alexander, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Emma and Carter.

She was a devoted servant of Christ, and that sustained her throughout her battle with cancer.  She prayed daily for others and relied on her faith to get her through the most difficult of circumstances.  She enjoyed reading, morning devotions by candlelight, bible studies, watching the birds at her feeders, playing Scrabble, Pinochle, puzzles and painting.  She loved her family, her church, her neighbors, her friends, her cats and all of her caregivers.  

She had a profound impact on those who loved her, as evident by all of the birthday cards, calls and texts she received the day before her passing.  She got to blow out her birthday candle on October 8, 2020 surrounded by family.  May her spirit and love never be extinguished! 

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.  Masks and social distancing are required. Following the service, a recording of the service will be uploaded to the Honquest Family Funeral Home YouTube page.
