Carol Williams Obituary

Carol Ann Williams, 79, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her bedside. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and care touched the lives of everyone who knew her.  Carol married the love of her life, Ray Lee Williams, in July 1968. The two shared a deep and lasting bond until Ray’s passing on March 30, 2023. Together, they built a life rooted in family, love, and unwavering support.

A proud graduate of Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Carol lived her life in service to those she loved most. She dedicated herself to her family as a full-time daycare provider for her grandchildren, offering a safe, nurturing, and loving home while her daughters and son worked. Her care and guidance helped shape generations.

Carol had many passions throughout her life. She found joy in playing bingo at the local community center, cooking delicious meals for her family, and crocheting thoughtful creations that are now treasured keepsakes. Her home was always filled with the sounds of laughter, the smell of home-cooked meals, and the comfort of her gentle presence.

She is survived by her loving children, daughters, Rebecca Ann Gorsch and Monica Rae Williams; and her son, Gregory Peter Williams.  She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: from Rebecca and Lon Gorsch – Kelsey Kline (Scott), Emily Patton (Jake), Jeffrey Gorsch, and Amy Gorsch.  From Monica and John Williams – Madison Williams and Mason Williams.  From Gregory – Lindsey Cunningham (Eric) and Braydon Williams.  Carol was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Charlotte Rae Patton, daughter of Emily and Jake; and Grayson and Elijah Cunningham, sons of Lindsey and Eric.  She is further survived by her beloved siblings, Leah Pitner, Shirley Klaptrodt, and Burdett Anderson.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Lee Williams; her daughter, Melissa Williams; her parents, Florence Schlie and Floyd Anderson; her sisters, Elenor Warner and Sherry Breese; and her brothers, Kenneth Anderson, Harold Anderson, and Charles Schlie.

Carol’s memory will live on in every warm embrace, every shared story, and every family gathering where her spirit is surely present.  The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support and love during this time. Carol's legacy is one of unwavering love, quiet strength, and a life beautifully lived in the service of others.

A Celebration of Life event for both Ray and Carol invitation will be extended at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be shared with the family in care of Monica Williams, 10556 Tartan Court, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.
