Carol Ann Horvath, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 77. Carol was born on December 28, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Stanley R. Lipinski and Josephine Lipinski (Kijowski). Carol was a kind and caring person who loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the compassion she showed to those around her. Carol was very strong through difficult times throughout her life, and her resilience and determination were an example to those who knew her.
Carol was previously married to Stephen L. Horvath, with whom she shared her two sons. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Liz) Horvath and Michael Horvath, and her grandchildren, Daniel Horvath and Robert Horvath. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ronald Pikula, and nephews, Erik Pikula and Brian Pikula, along with extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her cousin Debbie Riley, who was like a sister to her, and by her dear friend Mary Ann, whose friendship meant so much to her over the years. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley R. Lipinski and Josephine Lipinski (Kijowski), by her sister Jacqueline Pikula, and by the father of her children, Stephen L. Horvath.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Honquest Family Funeral Home - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL, 61111. A brief visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park, Illinois, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place afterward at approximately 1:00 p.m. at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Anne’s Place in Rockford and the hospice caregivers who provided compassionate care during Carol’s final days. Her kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
