Carol Builta Obituary

Carol Builta of Roscoe would have celebrated her 81rst birthday on December 16, 2023. She died peacefully on November 19, 2023, at Highview in the Woodlands in Rockton, IL. Carol was a graduate of East High School and Rockford Business School. Carol (Issacson) married Gary Builta on January 12, 1963, at the Bethesda Covenant Church in Rockford. They spent the early years of their marriage living in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. In 1978, Carol and Gary relocated to Roscoe and this became their lifelong home. Carol was a homemaker in every sense of the word. She created a home filled with comfort and love.

Carol worked as a playground aide at Kinnikinnick Grade School for many years. She was also an excellent typist. Carol would assist Gary with his office work and typed the occasional paper for her then college-aged children. Carol and Gary were members of Hope Evangelical Free Church for more than 45 years. Through the years, Carol sang in the choir, volunteered in the kitchen for VBS, and especially enjoyed her time with Senior Saints. Carol was a hostess and always looked forward to her time with “the ladies” - whether it be coffee at her house, a bible study, breakfast at Jessica’s or even attending a knitting group. Carol didn’t knit, but she enjoyed the time she spent with her group of friends.

Carol instilled the value of family and holidays within her own children and continued to host celebrations up until just a few years ago. Carol’s family (and even friends) will remember her for lasagna, Cool Whip salads, fruit soup, and most of all the laughter that would always be shared around the table. These are the memories that her family will strive to continue and cherish all at the same time.

Carol is survived by her children, Steve (Joelle) Builta, Lori (Tim) Mason, and Brian (Jennifer) Builta; grandchildren, Danni (Justin), Christopher (Kaitlyn), Sarah (Juan), Noah (Lily), and Alicia and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Malachi, Rita, Perla, and Everest.  Preceded in death by her husband, Gary and her parents, Vi and Bill Isaacson.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM until time of service.
