Carl Smith Barnes, 91, of Roscoe, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born in Orange, Virginia on June 30, 1934.
Carl married Trudy Dowd in 1984 and they enjoyed ballroom dancing every weekend. Carl served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 during the Korean War. He was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW, American Legion and Moose Lodge. He retired from Chrysler after 20+ years.
Carl is survived by his step-daughters, Jean (Red) Dzielak of Roscoe and Kay Rogers of Roscoe; step-sons, Richard Raleigh of Salem, OR and Timothy Dowd of Rockford; nephew, Bill Barnes of Knoxville, TN; and cousin, James (Sylvia) Barnes of Colonial Beach, VA. Predeceased by his parents, one brother, one son, and Trudy Dowd.
A private family burial will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
