Brenda L. Shlemon

Brenda Lee Shlemon of Rockford, IL peacefully drew her last breath and left this life to be with our Lord, Jesus on Saturday, August 12,2023. Brenda was born in Bristol, TN on September 28, 1942.

Brenda was known as the matriarch of her family and will long be remembered as the most loving, compassionate, considerate woman. She was generous with her love and her family was the greatest importance of her life.

Brenda lived a fascinating and eventful life growing up in New York where she would bring three children into this World. She would eventually move with her family to Illinois where she raised her children while working as a supervisor for Motorola until her retirement.

Brenda went on in life to earn her most cherished title as “Nanie” for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, making precious memories while laughing and always displaying a smile on her face.  Brenda had a beautiful heart. She was always thinking of others and exemplified what it means to love unconditionally.

Brenda was predeceased by her mother, Mary Andrews; sister, Linda Smith; and son, Joseph Shlemon.

Her memory lives on through her surviving loved ones. She is survived by her two children, Lucy Shlemon and Phillip Shlemon; grandchildren, Heather McArthur, Hannah Czlapinski (Michael Johnson), Michael Czlapinski, Jacob Bass, Kaitlynn Shlemon and Rebecca Shlemon; great-grandchildren, Alexis Treto, Kaylee McArthur, Aaden Treto, Brayden Walker, Corey Walker; two brothers, Tom Smith and Jerry Andrews (Donna Andrews); and her beloved dog, Luna Sue.

Memorial service will be at 11:00am with a visitation from 10:00am until the service on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.
