Brenda Darlene Darnell Bailey, 72, of Sycamore, IL, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 3, 2025. She was born on July 11, 1953, at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL to Harold and Ruby Darnell. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Judson College and spent her professional years caring for others as a family and substance abuse counselor, as well as a Direct Support Professional for persons with developmental disabilities. She flourished in her role at The Christian Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (CCADA) and received several awards for her achievements and contributions there.
Above all Brenda cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. In her later years she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, leaving them with countless memories of her love and care. Brenda was a patriot and was not ashamed to stand up for what she believed in. She had unwavering faith, even in her darkest times, and she will remain a beacon of hope for her family and friends during theirs.
She is survived by her children, Christian Bailey (Vicki) of Rockford, IL, Sarah Montoya (Jacob) of Roscoe, IL, Elizabeth Cyr (Robert) of Sycamore, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas Bailey, Gabriel, River, Samara, Javen, Sophia, Savannah, Nicholas Cyr, Jesse, Joshua, Jeremiah, Josiah; and her loving best friend, Shirley Plankinton of Wonder Lake. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Bailey; parents, Harold, and Ruby Darnell; sister, Joanne Slocum; and grandson, Adam Cyr.
A private family and friends service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to K-Love Radio or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, both causes close to Brenda’s heart.
