Bernard "Red" LaVerne Hunter, 88, of Roscoe passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Born August 5, 1930 in Springville, Wisconsin, the son of Henry Wallace and Ida Mae (Elwood) Hunter. Married Dorothy Lenore Warner in June 1953. Retired from Local 792 and 2158. An officer of the Carpenters Union. Bernard enjoyed carpentry and millwright work and was also a Master Mason. During the winter months, Bernard and his wife, Dorothy, would travel to Arizona where he would exercise his geological skills and collect rocks in the desert. They also were avid square dancers. Bernard’s other hobbies included hunting, fishing, square dancing and hanging out with the boys at the VFW.
Survivors include daughters, Nola (Glenn) Carnine of Roscoe, Doris (Peter) Tropp of Roscoe, Laura Hunter of Rockford; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Marlene (Mickey) Wibom; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; wife, Dorothy; 7 sisters; and 1 brother.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 in Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main Street, Roscoe with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
