Barton C. Carlson

Barton C Carlson, 87, of Machesney Park, IL passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born in Rockford, IL to Einar and Inez (Richardson) Carlson on February 23, 1938. He was the middle child of 5, graduating from West High School in 1956. He met Sharon, his wife of 51 years, in November 1960 and they were married September 9, 1961. He loved fishing with his nephews and big brother Neil, woodworking, big band music and seeing his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Robert) Ashby, Denece (Timothy) Poff and Gabrielle (David) Ogden; grandchildren, Kimberly (Daniel) Casey, Jeffrey Ashby, Madalyn and Hayden Poff, Alayna and Kaitlyn "Blondie" Ogden; brother, Neil Carlson, sister Linda Noegl; great-grandchildren, Shawn and Ashlyn Casey; dear friend, Patrick Hofkamp; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Charlie.  Predeceased by his parents; wife, Sharon (Schmidt) Carlson; son, Todd Carlson; sister, Judy Peters; brother, Thomas Carlson. 

Pallbearers will be Robert and Jeffrey Ashby, Timothy and Hayden Poff, and David and Alayna Ogden.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 North Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford, IL 61102. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
