Barbara Sutherland

Barbara Sutherland, 83, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 26, 2025. She was born in Greenville, TN, on January 29, 1942, to Alfred Ball and Blanch Roberta Ball.

She was creative and great at decorating. She worked at Farm and Fleet in Rockford, IL, as manager of the gift department for 20 years, then moved to Sarasota, FL, where she started her own cleaning business. Her clients loved her, and some even became her good friends. She loved making flower arrangements; she had a small side business for that. She was kind, with a heart of gold. She loved to lie in the sun at home or at the beach.

She is survived by her sisters, Frances Embry and Dorothy Brickey; daughter, Rhonda (Patrick) McKinney; daughters-in-law, Christine Sutherland and Karen Sutherland; grandchildren, Jeremy Sutherland, Nicholas Sutherland, Justin McKinney and Megan McKinney; great-grandchildren, Trinton Sutherland, Evan Sutherland, Kegan Sutherland, Trevor Sutherland, Khaleesi Sutherland, Kayson Sutherland, Damian Sutherland, and Gianna Mora. Predeceased by her sons, Ricky and David Sutherland.

The family gives a special thank you to all the staff at Unity Hospice for doing a wonderful job in her last few days; they were a big help.

The family decided not to have a service, but would like all friends and family to remember their best time with her.
