Barbara J. Bjorklund

Barbara J. Bjorklund, 79, of Rockton passed away peacefully March 14, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1943 in Rockford, the daughter of Steffa and Nellie (Schoemaker) Heimert. A graduate of Winnebago High School class of 1961. Barbara married Ray Bjorklund on June 18, 1982 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Rockford. She was employed at Ingersoll Cutting Tools, Landstar Inway and BAX Global until her retirement. Barbara enjoyed cooking, hiking and hiked the Grand Canyon two times. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ray of Rockton; children, Michelle (Karl) Zoller, Christina (James) Budziszek, Thomas Hurst, Chip (Jeanette) Bjorklund; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Michael (Hellen) Heimert, Patricia (Howard) Brentner, Margaret Clauss, Sandra Lapete, Ann (Paul) Orlandi and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Jack and Richard Heimert and brother-in-law, Chuck Clauss. The family would like to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospice and Barbara’s caretakers for her compassionate care.

Memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, with a visitation from 4:30 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Barbara’s name to the Arbor Day Foundation or to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
