Art Jacobson
“Husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all”

Arthur S. Jacobson, of Rockford, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday December 30, 2014 after a short illness. Art was born on July 7, 1922 in Belleville, Wis. to Steve and Anna (Nesheim) Jacobson.  Known for his bright and outgoing personality, Art was named Prom King of Blanchardville HS in 1940.  Soon after, he enlisted in the US Air Corps and served in the European theater of WWII as a crew member of a B-24 "Liberator" bomber.  Prior to his deployment in 1945, Art married the love of his life, Margaret Lindquist of Rockford.  Upon his return from service, he started his family in Rockford, and worked most of his career at National Lock and Excelsior.  He was very involved at First Evangelical Free Church as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Brigade leader and Usher. Art was proud of his family, Norwegian heritage and military service which was commemorated by going on a 'Vets Roll' trip in 2011.  He will be remembered for being faithful to God, a devout husband, father and grandfather, a hero to his family, making everyone feel as if they're his best friend and treating everyday as a joy and a blessing despite late age blindness.

His legacy and influence will be carried on by his daughters, Nancy Lundquist, Sue (Steve) Franzen, Jill (Dave) Love; grandchildren Heather (Cory) Daehn, Andrew (Andi) Leigh, Amy Wilkins, Anita (Herb) Rosborough, Nate Love, Ryan (Julia) Love and Austin Love all whom affectionately called him "Papa."  He will also be remembered by his nine great grandchildren; siblings, Roger (Clara) Jacobson, Jeron (Ranee) Jacobson and Judy Kerr; many  nieces, nephews and cousins; along with special friend’s, Lorraine Seagren and Howard Ballard; and many others who loved him dearly.
Art is now reunited in heaven with his wife; parents; brother, Earling Jacobson; and son-in-law, Gary Lundquist.  Art’s family would like to profoundly thank the staff at Fairhaven, his second family, for the loving care he received over the past 11 years.

A celebration of Art’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 North Mulford Road, Rockford.  A visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to time of services in the church on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Fairhaven Retirement Center or First Evangelical Free Church.
