ALAN Y. HEISLER, 62, LOVING FATHER, GRANDFATHER AND BROTHER
Alan Young Heisler, 62, passed away at his home on August 5, 2020. Alan was born on September 6, 1957 in Rockford, IL to Gerald and Virginia Heisler. Better known as Al, “Big Al,” or “Gus,” Al graduated Auburn High School in 1975. Al worked at Bill Doran’s floral company until he retired. Al’s motto in life was, “Live for today because tomorrow is never promised.” Al was very good with numbers and an avid gambler. He always loved listening to the blues, his favorite music genre. He loved watching movies and reading books about the mob (hence the nickname “Big Al”). He loved following all sports. His favorite teams included the New England Patriots and the Chicago White Sox. Al loved his family and friends and had a very big heart.
Survivors include his children, Amy and Angie (Chris) from TN, Alan (Veronica) and Kayla (Kyle) from IL; 15 grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Sally) from MI, Mark and Jeff (Chris) Heisler and Maggie (Frank) Zimmerman all from IL. Al had numerous nieces and nephews and one godchild, Cori Legg from IL. Special close friends include Polly Heisler, Tammy and Glenn Stone and Stan Kreutz, all from IL. Al was preceded in death by both of his parents.
