Abbigail “Abbi” MacGregor Obituary

Abbigail “Abbi” Nadine MacGregor, 17, of Loves Park, IL passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2022, at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI following a very sudden battle with a rare brain tumor.  Abbi was born on June 12, 2005 in Rockford, IL to Jeff and Sarah MacGregor.

As a current student preparing for her senior year at Harlem High School, she was active in cross country, track, and basketball. Abbi was a great student, a well-rounded athlete, and maintained her part-time job at Blain's Farm & Fleet in Loves Park.  She had plans to begin visiting colleges to determine where she would like to continue track and cross country as well as pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatric nurse. During her free time Abbi enjoyed gardening, napping, reading, music, making TikToks, playing with her siblings, eating, and hanging out with friends and family.

Abbi’s absolutely infectious personality was what truly set her apart.  Even as a toddler she had such a huge bright personality. She had an energy that would literally light up the room.  It was nearly impossible to not be happy and smiling when Abbi was around, especially with younger kids.  Abbi seemed to be in her own element whenever she was playing with children, whether it was one of her younger siblings or any child that she got to play with.

She was truly a rare teenager that had absolutely zero concerns about what anyone else thought.  Anyone lucky enough to know her, knew that Abbi did, and said, and wore whatever made her happy.  She genuinely seemed to be happy legitimately being her true self.  (Anyone that followed her TikToks could see this.) Abbi was definitely an original and we were all so proud, not just of her athletic and academic accomplishments, but of the beautiful person that she was, on the inside and outside.  Abbi was always an angel, but now she’s got her wings.

Abbi is survived by her father, Jeff (Mary) MacGregor and her mother, Sarah (Ryan Farrell) MacGregor.  Her siblings are Makenna Thomas, Alisyn MacGregor, Avaleigh Engesetter, Jeffery MacGregor Jr., and Amelia MacGregor.  Her surviving grandparents are Joann Race, Shirley MacGregor, and Dan and Tina Baker. She also has one surviving great-grandmother, Eula Stonecipher, as well as aunts and uncles, Jennifer (Larry) Neal, Chavez (Layla) Borrego, Sean Baker, Grayson Baker, Amanda (Mike) Lindsey, David (Cheryl) Conley, Charlie (Angie) Conley and 10 cousins.  Abbi was preceded in death by three grandfathers, Keith MacGregor, Dave Conley, and Arthur “PaBo” Race.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Harlem High School, 1 Huskie Circle, Machesney Park, IL 61115.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to help with Abbi’s final expenses.  As Abbi always said, “Live. Laugh. Love.”  Arrangements provided by Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Loves Park Location.
