Elnor was born on January 23, 1933 in Russellville, Alabama to Henry and Elsee Roberson. She was one of 12 children. Elnor eloped with the love of her life, Orvil McDonald, on February 10, 1950. They were married for 73 years. Elnor worked at local companies in Rockford. The greatest joy of her life was her family. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening, and helping others.
She is survived by her son, Curtis McDonald (Cathy Hawley); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) McDonald and their children, Addelyn and Jameson McDonald, Jacob (Lisa) McDonald and their children, Louise and Elliott McDonald, and Katie McDonald Lopez and her children, Evian McDonald and Cataleya Lopez. A very special niece, Valerie (Brian) Willis and her children, Kayla Rote and Colin (Mali) Rote who have cared for Elnor these past years; sisters, Margaret Jack, Peggy (Stan) Waite, Pat Jones, and Carol (Rod) Burgoyne, and special friend, Joanne Peterson. Predeceased by husband, Orvil McDonald; daughter, Denese McDonald Jenkins; as well as many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harneet Gahley and Nurse Practitioner Velisa Patel from the Palliative Care Department of UW Health Rockford and Sanctuary Hospice for the amazing care they provided Elnor.
Per Elnor’s request, cremation will take place with no visitation or services.
