Thomas Leroy Ellison

Thomas Ellison, 75, of Rockford, peacefully passed away in his home on August 6, 2018. He was born and raised in Rockford and a graduate of Rockford East High School. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy for thirteen years.  He had a successful sales career and a family that he was very proud of. He was a lifelong Chicago sports fan, a devoted friend, and a fantastic cook. Thomas was a loving husband to his wife for 55 years. He was known for his quick wit, gentle humor, and he could always put a smile on anyone’s face.  

Survived by his wife, Cecile; his four children, Mary (Randy) Davis, Rick Ellison, Tammi (Robert) Adochio, and Cari (Brian) Weiffenbach; grandchildern, Meggan (Joe Leroy) Adochio, Amy Wright, Robert (Samantha Adochio), Garrett (Candice) Adochio, Thomas Tryggestad, Lilly Weiffenbach and Jax Weiffenbach; eight cherished great-grandchildren; two brothers, Greg and Roger Ellison and his best canine friend, Dexter. 

Preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Carol Ellison; granddaughter, Maddelyn Joy. 

The Ellison family is grateful to the health professionals at DaVita, Northern Illinois Hospice, and the professionals at Honquest Family Funeral Home. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, Illinois 61111 with Pastor Anthony Maynard officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials in Thomas’s name can be made to Cecile Ellison.
