Salvador Montoya Martinez, 84, of Machesney Park was called by the Lord to be with the angels on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He was born in Congregacion de Canoas, Guanajuato, Mexico on October 18, 1933 to Antonino Montoya and M. Refugio Martinez.
A devoted Husband, Father, Brother and Son who always put family first. Known for being a hard worker, he enjoyed spending a majority of his time in Mexico working on his fields. After 45 years, he proudly retired from Ingersoll Milling Machine, Rockford, IL. His smile, tone of voice and 'tell it how it is' character will forever be engraved in our hearts. He always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren, all while instilling the importance of education. He made sure his grandchildren knew how proud he was of their accomplishments by wearing their Alma Mater. In his free time, he enjoyed heart to heart talks with family and friends, watching baseball and rooting for the Green Bay Packers.
He is predeceased in death by his wife, Blanca Montoya; and son, Samuel Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Mandujano Herrera; four sons and one daughter, Abel (Theresa- Cassandra and Samuel), Manuel (Paola- Manuel, Elsa, Mayra, Rodrigo), Teresa (Jose Luis- Beatrice and Luis), Joel (Graciela-Bianca, Yadira, Joel, Jr.) and Salvador (Teresa-Salvador Jr, Tony, Josue, Phillip); 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren,
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in San Pedro and San Pablo Catholic Church, 617 Lincoln Ave,, Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
