Ronald Alan Tackett

Ronald Alan Tackett, 71, of Rockford passed away peacefully on July 19, 2019. Ron was known for his smile and stories, both of which he was eager to share. As a car enthusiast, Ron enjoyed racing at the Byron Drag Strip in his younger years and found joy in restoring automobiles throughout his life. An avid tinkerer, Ron could fix or refurbish just about anything. He was often found working on projects in his garage or looking for his next project at garage sales. Classic rock was the soundtrack to his life, and he enjoyed listening to music all the time. Ron was a loving father who relished his role as grandpa and great-grandpa, and especially valued time spent with his best friends – his brother, Roger and his dog, Boomer.

He is survived by son, Randal (Julie) Tackett; daughter, Kimberly (Michael Singery) Selchow; grandchildren, Cassidee (Salvadore) Krischke, Jami Merriweather, Nicholas Hillhouse, Jessica (Branden Chambers) Singery, Michael and Daniel Tackett; great-grandchildren, Briar-Rose, Salem, Garrett, Chevelle, Tison, Kaleb and Kaysin; step-children, Richard, Gary (Kathleen) and Ken Harvey; brother, Roger; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Marjorie; siblings, Carla, Doug, Sherry; grandson, Connor; and wife, Patricia.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until time of service.
