Rev. Dileepe K. de Alwis

Rev. Dileepe K. de Alwis, 69, of Rockford, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Born on August 19, 1949, in Colombo, Sri Lanka; married, Nelun K. de Alwis. Pastor Dill was a man that loved and served his Lord.  He and his late wife were united in their commitment of spreading the gospel to the nations.  Pastor Dill and his wife planted New Life Chapel Sri Lanka as well as a New Life Chapel in DeKalb, IL which then moved to Rockford, IL.  He was an avid guitarist and practical joker.  He was a devoted follower of God, husband, father, and grandfather.  

He is survived by his children, Dilshani (Daniel) Tyson, and their children Michael, Kamal, Nathaniel and Anika Karmel; Deveshte (Aulbrey) de Alwis and their daughter Nelun Joy; and Dharini de Alwis; mother, Nita de Alwis; sister, Piyanjali (Steve) Michôd and her family; brother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Tissa (Margareta) Weerasinghe; sister-in-law, Sunil (Harris) Ratnayake; brother-in-law, Peter (Rukma) Weerasinghe; and their families.  Predeceased by his beloved wife, Nelun; father, Gerald Douglas de Alwis; father-in-law, Stanmore Weerasinghe; mother-in-law, Sylvia Weerasinghe.

Memorial service will be at Rock Church, 6732 Harrison Ave, Rockford, IL 61108 on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family at 3804 Crosby Street, Rockford, IL 61107.
