Paul "Sully" A. Sullivan, 71, passed away in his home in Davis Junction, IL on August 27, 2017. Paul was born April 14, 1946 in Monmouth, IL to Eugene and Margaret (Valeu) Sullivan. “Sully” was known by all and loved by many. Everyone was a friend and no one was a stranger. Paul had a witty personality and a love for life. He enjoyed antiquing, fishing and gambling. He was a classic car enthusiast and frequented local car shows. In his younger years he enjoyed racing at the Byron Dragway. Paul was enlisted in the United States Army. During his enlistment he served time in the Vietnam War where he drove supply convo trucks. When he returned to the United States he pursued a career as a truck driver.
Paul’s true best friend was his Dachshund, Cooper. He enjoyed summer days on his porch with Cooper, his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his summer and fall evenings around the fire pit with good company, conversation and laughter.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Josh) Cagle and Kevin (Bunny Edwards) Sullivan; grandchildren, Kelsey, TJ, Drew, Brooke and Damon; great-grandchildren, Tarynn and Kensley; two brothers, Richard (Judy White) Sullivan, Patrick (Johni Sherrell) Sullivan; and one sister, Judy (Roger) Schade; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Margaret Sullivan; brother, Robert Sullivan.
Funeral service will be held on Friday September 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in Honquest Family Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 4311 North Mulford Road, Loves Park. Burial to follow in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State Street, Rockford with Celebration of Life at Lino’s from 1:00-3:30 p.m.
