Oscar Lee Presley, Jr., 76, of Roscoe, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.  Born on June 25, 1942 to Oscar and Margaret (Husky) Presley in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Batesville, Arkansas.  In 1961 he moved north.  He opened Oscar's Barber Shop in 1966 and also joined the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department, where he served for 42 years, 25 years as Chief.  He was the first volunteer paramedic in Winnebago County, helped get the rescue trucks started in this area, served and was a founding member of the E911 Board, Winnebago Fire Chief's Association President, Roscoe Lions member and President, and Road Commissioner (1970-1979). Oscar helped build HRFD Station #1, HRFD Station #3 and Training Facility which was named in his honor, and was proactive in many aspects of the fire community.  He always had his eye on the future. After his retirement, he became a "snow bird" and spent part of his time at his Florida home where he met many great people. He enjoyed coffee with friends, belonged to ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), Wannabees, singing, art, gardening, Karaoke, fishing, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. 

Survived by his wife, Dean (Goad) Presley; children, John (Yesenia) Presley and Marcie (Jeff) Ball; grandchildren, Leah and Logan Ball; sister, Sharon (Dave) Thornton.  Predeceased by his parents and brother, Gerald Presley. 

The family would like to thank family and friends for the outpouring of love, support, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:30pm on Friday, November 16, 2018 in Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main Street, Roscoe, as well as Saturday, November 17, from 10:00am until 10:45am, also in the church.  Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Saturday, November 17, in Roscoe United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department or First Congregational Community Church of Roscoe.  Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel is honored to assist the family.
