I was so sad to hear that Mel had passed but after reading this obituary I know he had gone home to be with his wife. Julie, Stop by Riverbluff and visit us on the first Thursday of the month for Tea and Trivia. We loved you all.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. We valued having Mel as a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. In the '90's he gave a humorous portrayal as Dr. Knowitall in our public service message skit, "Help I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up". He was a joy to work with --always upbeat, sincere and dependable.

I first met Mel 25 years ago while on the American Heart Association Board. He always found the good in just about everything and there was hardly a time he didn't smile. I enjoyed and appreciated working with Mel, his enthusiasm and total support was so helpful. What a nice man. I am happy to have met him. The fact he was a life long St. Louis Cardinal fan made it even easier to like him!

So sorry to hear of Mel's passing. He was such a special man as was your mother. We spent time with them through the church and men's work. He always put others first. May God be with you through this time.

To Brent, Julie, Theresa, Jake and Corie-- I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your Dad and Grandpa. Over the many years that I have known Mel through your family gatherings, I have always found him to be so loving, gentle, and kind. He was fast with a smile and a bit of gentle humor. He loved you all so much, as did your Mom and Grandma. What big "givers" both of them were! I know that you will miss him greatly. I firmly believe that Mel and Pug are together and smiling down at their children and grandchildren right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mel was a wonderful person and I was honored to get to know him at our monthly events at Riverbluff. He and his wife led an inspirational life impacting many people. We'll miss him and Julie at our events.

What a special man! I was so honored to have met and gotten to know Mel at River Bluff. When visiting my Dad, I would always look forward to seeing Mel and Julie and being able to listen to Mel's stories and enjoy his company. I can see how special he would be to his family as he was certainly special in the short time we knew him. He will surely be missed. God Bless you Mel and your family.
