Martin R. Cacciapaglia, 60, of Rockford, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rockford, Illinois to Martin J. Cacciapaglia and Carole (Bjork) Cacciapaglia. He married the true love of his life and his rock of strength, Deborah (Morris) on December 22, 2006. They spent 14 wonderful years together. Marty was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, he loved to fish, play golf and practiced Martial Arts for over 15 years. Marty worked at Dierks Foods and Rock River Disposal. Anyone who knew Marty, knew how much he loved his special dog, Frankie. Marty was as strong as they come, fighting his illness until the end! He exceeded everyone’s expectations and made his family very proud. He will be missed immensely.
Survived by his two adoring children, Joseph (Mary) Cacciapaglia, Jessica (Michael) Anderson, his bonus kids, Jason (Gina) DesForges, and Tiffany (Jonathan) Manning; 12 grandchildren whom he loved very much, Elizabeth, Payton, Dylan (Morgan), Chance (Abby), Caden (Maddie), Ethan, Mason (Lily), Emily, Gunnar, Evan, Gianna, and Ella; siblings, Vicki (John) Anderson, Lori (Mark) Tallmadge, Jackie (Dave) Pool, and John (Nancy) Cacciapaglia; special brother-in-law, Terry (Susie) Morris; best friend and life long brother, David “Dutch” Champion; special aunts, Kathy Rippentrop and Phyllis Lind; special uncle, Bruce (Nancy) Cacciapaglia; special niece, Amy (Kevin) Applegren, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that he loved. Predeceased by mother, Carole Cacciapaglia; father, Martin J. Cacciapaglia; father-in-law, Paul Morris Sr., and special aunt, Sharon Angileri. Special thanks to Dr. James Woodman, Dr. Schultz and the staff at the Regional Cancer Center. The family would also like to extend a huge thank you to Jen Sheppard and Emily Kwiatkowski and the amazing staff from Heartland Hospice.
Funeral service will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Visitation on Monday evening, June 10, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm also in the funeral home.
