JoAnn was the special resource teacher at Welsh School where I started teaching in 1978. Her positive attitude and quiet charm helped me so much during my initial days as a beginning educator. She demonstrated wonderful instructional skills and helped me find many ways to assist my young students. I watched how she modeled excellent professionalism, but kept a joyous sense of humor and love for her work. She was a wonderful role-model for a beginning teacher! We lost contact when my career took me to another school. What a treat to literally “cross paths” with JoAnn many years later at Rock Cut State Park. Two beautiful Viszla dogs burst out of the woods and energetically bounced around my wife and dog! And right behind them came JoAnn! Despite the years, her radiant smile told me right away that it was my old friend from Welsh School. During the next few years, we often ran into JoAnn and her dogs while walking at Rock Cut. I feel so lucky to have reconnected. JoAnn was one of those special people who quietly added to the beauty of this world.
