James W. Fletcher, 76, of Roscoe passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019. Born December 14, 1942 in Chicago to James W. and Drucela (William) Fletcher. Raised in Oregon and Rockford, Jim attended Rockford schools. A veteran of the US Army serving from 1961 – 1964. Married Lana Gorkow on September 5, 1964. Self employed most of his life, the latest being Fletcher’s Car Care in Machesney Park. Jim was a workaholic but enjoyed doing stained glass.
Survivors include wife, Lana Fletcher of Roscoe; children, James Fletch III of Rockford, Theresa Prebula of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Matthew Fletcher (raised by Lana and Jim) of Roscoe, James IV of California, Kayla Fletcher of Loves Park, James Prebula of Loves Park; sister, Jeannie Sumpter of Machesney Park; cousin, Ron Edgecomb (like a brother) of Woodstock, and sisters-in-law, Murdy Gorkow, and Judy Gorkow (like sisters to Jim).
Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.
