James Allen Olson

James "Jim" Allen Olson, 49, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  He was born to Gerald and Jean (Wiemuth) Olson of Rockford, Illinois on August 25, 1969.  Jim was a veteran of the US Army, and served during Desert Storm.  Contracted by Aerotek, he was employed by Chrysler for 15 years.  Jim was a longtime member of Rockford and Roscoe VFW’s, the Navy Club, and the American Legion of Rockford. He played on dart and bowling leagues and was an avid Bears fan.  

On September 17, 2011, Jim married the love of his life, Laura Haskins.  Together they enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, playing games, putting together puzzles, and spending countless hours in the company of their family and many friends.  Jim will be deeply missed by all his friends and loved ones.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Jean Olson.  He is survived by his wife, Laura Olson of Roscoe; sisters, Joan (Keven) Porter, Janet (Robert) Worley; mothers and fathers-in-law, Carole and Bill Solsrud and Norm and Sue Haskins; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Neslund, Brenda Haskins, Ashley (Samuel) Solsrud-Beckman; brother-in-law, Mike (Anne) Cave; nieces and nephews, Shelby Porter, Shane Porter, Erich (Emily) Nelsund, Christian Neslund, Michael Cave, Jonathan Cave and Zachary Cave. 

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be given to the family to be used in Jim’s name at a later date.
