Ina B. Chapman, 93, of Rockford, died Friday, October 5, 2018. Born September 17, 1925 in Belvidere, IL to Francis and Mae (Dean) Delavergne. She graduated from Belvidere High School. She married Carroll Chapman on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948; they were married for 48 years. When he fell ill, she nursed him at home for his last 13 years. As a longtime member of Third Presbyterian Church, and an honorary lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women's group, she loved sewing and making walker bags and quilts for Quilters. Deeply religious, she looked forward to meeting loved ones in heaven. She loved gardening and baking pies and cakes for friends and family. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. One special poem honored her church's 100th birthday.
Survived by her daughter, Rebecca Chapman, Anchorage, Alaska; granddaughter, Holly Kubaskie who helped for many years until Ina's death; great-granddaughters, Lia and Devan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband; parents; infant sisters, Pearl and Grace; sisters, Vera Graham, Hazel Thapper, Geraldine Midkirk; brothers, Francis Delavergne, Jr. and Lester Delavergne. Visitation starts at 11:30am with the Funeral at 1:00pm, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Avenue, Rockford. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
