Henry Joseph Clay Jr., 82, of Machesney Park, IL passed away peacefully in his home on October 16, 2018. He was born on August 28, 1936 to Henry and Georgia (Foote) Clay. He was a loving brother, father, and grandfather. During his life he was part owner of Hank’s Repair Shop in Rockford, IL, an over the road truck driver, a gas station attendant, a Harley-Davidson Mechanic with Kegel Harley-Davidson and others, owned a small engine repair shop in Texas, a free lance photographer, and served 8 years in the Navy. He also did many reenactments such as: Custer’s Last Stand and others.
He is predeceased by his parents, wife, and a daughter. He is survived by two sisters, Jeanette (Doug) Kilbourne and Patty (Larry) Joyce, both from Canada; four children, Georgia Reynolds, John Sutton, Andi (Larry) Turtenwald and Joseph (Jackie) Clay; ten grandchildren, Rhiannon (Jason), Joshua, Jacob, Jackson (Nicki), Anja, Corey, Richard, Cody, Kyiah, Josiah; seven great-grandchildren; Alex, Aven, Kenzie, Lexi, Trista, Justin, Corey Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Thank you to Hospice and Honquest for helping our family with this transition. A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Calvary Memorial Church, 2715 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61114. Service will be officiated by Reverend David Petty.
