Evelyn Margaret Linden, 94, of Rockton passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018. Born April 25, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ to Joseph and Margaret (Barnes) Ballweg. Married Francis Bernard Linden June 24, 1950 in Queens, NY. Employed as the parish secretary for Maria Regina Church in Seaford, NY and later employed as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Hicksville, NY. Evelyn was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society, South Beloit, IL, and former president of the Rockton Women’s Club. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, talk radio, and watching EWTN. Evelyn loved volunteering and helping others. She was known for her generous nature. She always took every challenge and faced it head on. Evelyn will be most remembered for her friendship and her strong love and dedication to her family.
Survivors include children, Judith (Joseph) Duncan, James (Johanna) Linden; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Andrew) Jurgenson, Joseph Duncan, Jr., Leann Duncan, Colin (Allyson) Duncan, James (Lauren) Linden, Jr., Mary Linden; great grandchildren, Ella Jurgenson, Anna Jurgenson, Owen Jurgenson, and Conor Duncan. Predeceased by husband; and brother, Robert.
A memorial mass will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd., South Beloit, Illinois 61080. Family burial will be held in St. Charles/Resurrection Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Northern Illinois Hospice.
