Elizabeth “Betsy” M. Lieske, 61, of Machesney Park passed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Savior on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Born on May 8, 1957 in Chicago, born again into new life (John 3:3) on October 24, 1982. Daughter of William and Eugenia Wargula. She married John P. Lieske on July 7, 1984 to be his help-mate. Survived by her husband, John; children, Joseph, Jessica, John P. J. II (Avery); granddaughter, Emma Grace; and her sister, Fran (Jeff) Griffith. Predeceased by her parents; and her brother, William.
Betsy loved to travel, do photography and craft beautiful doll clothes. Member of Maywood Evangelical Free Church where she touched many lives in the ministries she served in, including AWANA, day camp, nursery, cafe, tutoring club and tech team. Betsy also was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. After completing the ministry of home schooling their children, she joyfully and skillfully labored for Youth for Christ as administrative assistant to the executive director for five years.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Road, Rockford with Pastor Gary Kniseley officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ministry their son leads at the University of Alabama, Birmingham: Encounter Ministries, P.O. Box 841, Alabaster, AL 35007 or to Maywood designated to the Tutor Club.
