Dylan Kiyohiko Robert Sakiyama, 21, of Rockford, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Dylan was born February 10, 1997, in Rockford, to Takuji and Julie Sakiyama. He was an avid skateboarder, bowler, loved soccer and working on cars. Everything he did, he did with passion and vigor. While attending Guilford High School, Dylan's bowling team made it all the way to the state championships. He was also an aspiring musician and contributed to an Oscar nominated documentary. Everyone he met knew of his kind, caring spirit and his love of anything tie-dyed.
Dylan is survived by his father, Takuji; mother, Julie (Eschelweck); his older brothers, Ryan (Kelly) Sakiyama and Tyler Sakiyama; grandmother, Joy Lemerande (Korn); and grandfather, Naoyoshi Sakiyama. Predeceased by grandfather, Robert Eschelweck; and grandmother, Kiyoko Sakiyama.
Funeral service will be at 3:00pm with a Visitation from 12:00 noon until the service on Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Friends and family attending the services are encouraged to wear tie-dye or casual attire.
