Doris R. Harrar

Doris R. Harrar, 85, of Rockton, IL, died peacefully December 1, 2018, at her home.  Doris was born in Appleton, WI on April 1, 1933, the daughter of Roy and Lucile (Dean) Schrock.  On March 25, 1960, Doris married Richard Harrar, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage this year.

Doris was well known for her gardening skills and gift of hospitality, and many had the pleasure of sharing a meal at her table over the years.  She was a talented seamstress, and in her later years she turned from making clothing items to making quilts.  Family and friends were blessed with her blankets, and then she began making lap quilts, which she donated to several organizations in the stateline area.

Doris is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Joyce (Mike) Iiams, Ruth (Ken) Kinney, Amy (Rex) Pieper, and Bruce (Cami) Harrar; ten grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan (Nichole), Alex, and Mariah Kinney, Sean, Patricia, and Jennifer Iiams, Mia and Max Pieper, and Logan Harrar; and three great-grandchildren, Eliana, Caleb, and Kira Kinney. She also leaves behind a sister, Marjorie Leasure and several nieces and nephews.  Doris is predeceased by her parents; brother, Dean Schrock; and sister, Carol Vandegraft.

Funeral service will be at 2:00pm with a visitation from 1:00pm until the time of service on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.  Elder Mike Iiams will be officiating.  Burial on Monday, December 10, at 10:30am in Rockton Township Cemetery.
